(Faux) Leather Panels & Black Suede Pumps

Hi Everyone! Just a quick hello and hoping you're all having a great week so far and looking forward to the weekend ahead of us, a long weekend if you're lucky! I wore this outfit to work, and surprisingly, I got more compliments than questions with this outfit. At first, I was hesitant on wearing this skirt to work because I thought the faux leather panels would have been a little too edgy for the office. I decided to make the skirt less of a statement since it was my first time wearing it by pairing it with a black drape neck sweater. The knit sweater added a softer touch to the tougher faux leather material. After receiving compliments from my co-workers, I am more confident in wearing it again in the office, probably with a patterned top like stripes next time. (Faux) Leather is always a hit for the Fall, so it was fun being able to incorporate a trend in a more conservative environment.

  1. I think it's definitely an appropriate skirt for office - it's very reserved and modest :)

  7. What a beautiful skirt! This is such a classy and polished look, but you gave it a little edge and personality with the leather details. Very nice! Heather

You look very chic in this outfit, Christine. I have a similar skirt that I bought from BR not too long ago but have problems styling it. I think pairing it with a solid top is the way to go. Purple looks great on you BTW.

  11. So pretty, Christine! I'm so glad you got such great feedback from your coworkers :) I wouldn't think any differently since it's such a gorgeous outfit and the color of the leather skirt is so pretty! You probably even gave your coworkers some inspiration to go outside the normal work wardrobe themselves! If you don't mind me asking, is the drape neck sweater from AT in a thick or thinner material? I've been wanting to add a drape neck top to my work wardrobe but have only come across some really thick wool or chunky ones - so when I tuck them into my slacks or skirt, it bulges out from the front (which makes me look like I ate one too many cupcakes, if you know what I mean). From the looks of it, I don't see any bulging on your outfit so it seems like the perfect material to tuck into a skirt/pant. Hope you have a great weekend!

  12. Thank you Christine, you're too sweet! The drape neck from AT is actually of a thinner material. I would recommend it if you're looking to add a drape neck to your wardrobe that tucks in well. It's easy to dress this up or down and doesn't give you any bulge or make you look like you had one too many cupcakes lol Have a good weekend! :)
