Sunshine Bright : Mustard Yellow Blazer & Lace Dress

Hi Everyone! Today I decided to step a little out of my comfort zone and wore my mustard yellow blazer out for the very first time. To me, mustard yellow can either be a hit or miss, depending on how you wear it. I think it's key to just keep the rest of your outfit simple to avoid it being overwhelming. I paired this blazer with an ivory lace dress to give a feminine touch to the structured blazer. I added blue accessories with my Stella&Dot necklace for a little color and paired that with my J. Crew Edie Purse. Looking at the color combination here, it feels as if the yellow represents the sun while my blue accessories represents the clear skies, or maybe it's just me. :)

Blazer : Banana Republic sz 00P (here), Dress : H&M sz XS (similar here and here)
Shoes : Ann Taylor sz 5, Bag : J. Crew (last seen here)
Accessories : Belt from Gap (here), Earrings from Banana Republic,
Necklace from Stella&Dot, Watch from Michael Kors

This blazer is from Banana Republic. When I first saw it, I had mixed feelings about it. I wasn't sure whether I loved it or hated it, but I just couldn't stop looking at it. I ended up not purchasing it that day, but every time I walk into Banana Republic, I would always pick it up and give it some thought. I finally took the plunge when one of my friends who was with me told me that I always stare at the blazer and suggested that I purchase it and see how much I like it, if anything I can return it. Maybe it was the lighting in stores, but the mustard color didn't look as vibrant as it does in sunlight. I ended up really liking the blazer a lot more than I expected. I know mustard yellow isn't everyone's cup of tea. It is definitely out of my comfort zone, maybe that's why I was so hesitant  This is the first item I own that is mustard yellow. When I held it against the other clothes in my closet, I realized that the yellow is such a bright saturated color that it's best if paired with  darker colors like emerald green, maroon red, and navy blue. It can also be paired with stripes and polka dots, as long as your keep the color palette simple. Love this maxi here

What do you think about Mustard Yellow? Do you own anything in this color?

Thank you so much for reading! :)

  3. Cute outfit! I love that your dress has a longer sleeve than you usually find in a short-sleeved dress. Also love your turquoise accent - Stella & Dot has the cutest statement pieces!

Such a beautiful outfit you've created! I really love the yellow Banana Republic blazer, kept it simple and chic with white! I think yellow is great for girls with a darker hair color such as your lovely self. Myself as a blonde, yellow kind if washes me out.
